PROJECT 442: Side Projects
I adjust and clean the Power Steering Gear Box and get it prepared for paint.  I
show how to adjust the Thrust Bearing Preload and the Pitman Shaft "Over
Center" adjustment.  The Steering Gear Box was out of a 1985 Monte Carlo SS.
It's the coveted 12.7:1 Constant Ratio Gear Box
OK...Sooooo...it leaked like a sieve.  I probably should have guessed that
would happen.  The thing is 27 years old.  Anyway, now it's a full rebuild.  I
picked up a Full Rebuild kit from my local Autozone and started the tear down
process.
Continuing the steering gear box overhaul.  Rebuilding the Adjuster Plug
Assembly and Valve Body Assembly.  This includes the o-rings, roller
bearing and seals.
On this video I tackle the Rack Piston with all those ball bearings and
install the roller bearing and seals in the case.

Final assembly.  Adjuster Plug, Rack Piston, Sector Shaft...everything!

That's right! 18 x 8 Billet SSIII Olds Rallye Wheels!  I lucked into these
babies.  Here I am adding Silver Inlays and Pin Striping as well as an
Olds Rocket Center Cap sticker.
Starting the modifications on the Olds 442 Rally Gauges, to include
gauge face overlays and "Low Fuel" warning light upgrade.
Continuing the modifications on the Olds 442 Rally Gauges, to include
gauge face overlays and "Low Fuel" warning light upgrade.
Reassembly of the Rally Gauges and polishing the plastic gauge cover. I
picked up a "Granny Gauge" cover from a local salvage yard.  Those
covers didn't have the trip odometer hole in the center.  This let me do a
custom Trip OD delete.  I also ditched the Km reading on the MPH gauge.
